Review Process
Deep Science Publishing is all about peer-reviewed scholarly publishing, which forms the core of any reputable publication. The books submitted for consideration at Deep Science Publishing undergo rigorous peer review and result in the publication of cutting-edge research books.
Initial Assessment:
The Deep Science Publishing Editors review the book manuscript for initial suitability. During the initial assessment, editors check the manuscript for originality, research relevance, market potential, English language quality, and overall scope of the book. If the book is deemed acceptable then the book project will be sent to the reviewers for evaluation. Authors whose book manuscript are rejected during the initial evaluation will be informed accordingly without delay.
Peer Review:
Once a complete book manuscript is submitted and deemed acceptable by the Deep Science Publishing Editors, the book manuscripts will be anonymized and assigned to 2-3 reviewers. The reviewers should be experts in the field covered by the manuscript, and their current workload is also be taken into account. Reviewers are requested to assess manuscripts on behalf of the originality, worldwide importance, literature, methodology, and results. Broader suggestions for language and grammar correction are not part of the peer review process. However, reviewers may suggest language and grammar corrections to the manuscript if they so wish. The reviewers provide feedback to the author, and confidential comments can be shared with the editors. The anonymized reviews and comments are provided to the author along with an editorial decision from Deep Science Publishing. Then, there may be several rounds of review, where you could be asked to revise, followed by a final decision.
What is the duration of the anonymized peer review process?
The whole process will take about one week. If the reviewers disagree, or report is delayed, another expert opinion may be sought. Reviewers may also be requested to review an updated manuscript and different rounds of revisions may take place if needed.
Reviewer Responsibilities:
Reviewers are crucial for the integrity and scientific quality of the review process, as they are responsible for providing fair and honest critique of manuscripts. That is done via detailed but brief comments highlighting strength, areas for improvement, and thoughts about the methodology as well as a general assessment of the manuscript's contribution to the field. Reviewers are not expected to proofread or copy-edit manuscripts; however, they should focus on the quality and relevance of the content. Reviewers must be precise in their feedback, offering detailed and constructive comments, while avoiding unprofessional remarks.
Reviewer Evaluation:
Review board members are evaluated annually, and judged on a number of factors such as the quality and timeliness of their reviews. The reviewer is well-positioned to become the editor, as their reviews are high-quality and timely. Good performance could result in a promotion to highest editorial board level, or being considered for special book reviews.
Book Editor Responsibilities:
Submission of a manuscript that is professionally copy-edited and conforms to the Deep Science Publishing author guidelines.
Proofing and Publication:
At the production stage, both authors and editors will be able to proofread the manuscript before it goes to online publication.
