Synopsis

Abstract

This chapter explores the commercialisation and market pattern of nano cardio-therapeutics, the interest of integrating nano cardio-therapeutics with nutraceuticals and naturopathic therapies in order to prevent cardiovascular diseases (CVD). It starts by giving a definition and a historical development, which underlines its relevance due to the burden of CVD in the world, as over 500 million people are affected each year. The global nanomedicine market worth around USD 265-294 billion in 2025 will be divided into drug delivery systems, diagnostics and therapeutics, with forecast revenues of USD 632-779 billion by 2034 at a rate of 10-12 percent CAGR. Regional summary reveals the command by North America and fast expansion of Asia-Pacific region due to an increase in the incidences of CVD and the demand of selective therapeutics. Meaningful growth opportunities are supported by technological progress in personalized medicine and nano-nutraceuticals such as curcumin and resveratrol formulations to help address oxidative stress. Ways of commercialization, from preclinical to market are discussed, with references to the public-private partnership and to particular examples, e.g. the inclusion of liposomal systems. Regulatory programs (FDA, EMA), safety issues, such as biocompatibility, ethical issues, and on accessibility, in naturopathic care, are discussed. Technical, economical and integration barriers are discussed with major players such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, Novartis and Pfizer. Case studies provide examples of success and failure, and future outlooks take into account intelligent nano-systems, integration of AI and growing into developing countries. The chapter sums up with policy recommendations aimed to promote innovation, in turn, guaranteeing fair naturopathic CVD services. They became more like the creatures they observed: animals well-qualified to survive in the natural world.
