Synopsis

The field of agriculture is at a very critical crossroad since it must contend with the twin challenge of feeding an increasing population in the world as well as addressing the immediate issue of climate change and environmental degradation. Sustainable and Smart Agriculture: Innovations, Climate Resiliency and Food Security is an edited volume that can unify a variety of perspectives, research, and practicability to find disconnected solutions to these interconnected challenges. The book emphasizes the infusion of innovative technologies like precision farming, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT) and data-based decision-making initiative with conventional agricultural knowledge systems. It underlines the necessity of developing productivity and saving natural resources, making the soil healthy, and promoting ecological balance in the long term. Particular concerns are placed on climate-resilient measures such as stress-tolerant varities of crops, good water management activities and adaptive agriculture.   Chapters in this book discuss new mechanisms of managing pests and diseases, digital farming, and sustainable supply chains and policy frameworks that enable strong farming communities. The involvement of researchers, academicians, and practitioners has enhanced both theory and applications in a practical way and hence the book is generalizable to a large audience. It is hoped that the book will help support scholars, policy makers, and students as well as agricultural professionals with the understanding of how to implement sustainable and smart agricultural methods. This book is ambitious with the aim to contribute to the global action of achieving food security and more resilient agricultural systems to support future generations through the creation of interdisciplinary dialogue and innovation.
